IBS AND STRESS

IBS is a chronic condition that affects 2 in 10 people in the UK*. It can be really painful and can negatively affect the quality of life. Diet, poor sleep, stress and changes in gut bacteria may all trigger symptoms. Triggers can be different for each person which means there is no generic advice or recommendations that will work for all sufferers.

HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HELP THE SYMPTOMS OF IBS?

New research completed in 2018 found that hypnotherapy can help improve the primary symptoms of IBS. It can also relieve other symptoms common to IBS sufferers such as fatigue, backache, nausea and urinary problems. The hypnotherapy sessions involve progressive relaxation and suggestions of soothing imagery and sensations focused on your specific symptoms. Studies have found improvements in abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea and bloating as well as overall wellbeing.
